Carol Benson, Executive Director of the Four Rivers Heritage Area, urges prospective applicants for this year's MHAA grant round to begin gathering information as soon as possible. Four Rivers Heritage Area is Getting a New Name!

As you know, the Four Rivers Boundaries have expanded! One of the defining aspects of the Maryland Heritage Area Authority Program is its emphasis on Interpretive Themes. With our new boundary expansion, we have greatly augmented the theme of African American Heritage, and we have extended our maritime theme of “Commerce to Recreation” to a land-based version, focused on railroads and trails. Four Rivers Eighteenth Annual Heritage Awards Ceremony Recognizes Excellence and Marks 20th Anniversary

Tim Leahy, Chair On Thursday, November 4, 2021, the Four Rivers Heritage Area held its Eighteenth Annual Heritage Awards Ceremony at Historic London Town and Gardens, under the tent. This event also celebrated the organization's Twentieth Anniversary of its certification as one of Maryland's first Heritage Areas, in October of 2001.
