The new Maryland Dove, a 84 foot wooden ship from Historic St. Mary’s City (HSMC), will be visiting Annapolis September 9 - 11, 2022. Chesapeake Crossroads Heritage Area joins the Hogan Administration in announcing 8 new grants totaling $301,273 to local Annapolis and Anne Arundel County non-profit organizations by the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority (MHAA). The 8 local grants are among 107 matching grants totaling $5.1 million awarded to Maryland nonprofits, local jurisdictions, and other heritage tourism organizations. Woodlawn History Center and Welcome Center for SERC Opens to the Public

Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC) recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony for its new Welcome Center and History Exhibit! This is an outstanding new attraction that is well worth a visit! The Woodlawn History Center will be open to visitors every Saturday going forward, from 10am through 12:30pm. Visits are free and no advance signups are required. Built in 1735, Woodlawn is the oldest Smithsonian building still in its original location.
