Applications Open for “Maryland Strong Economic Recovery Initiative” Nonprofit Grants

The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is administering funding for the Governor’s Maryland Strong Economic Recovery Initiative (MD-SERI). These funds will support the state’s nonprofit tourism organizations, entertainment venues and businesses across Maryland​. As part of Governor Larry Hogan's Maryland Strong: Economic Recovery Initiative, an additional $3 million will be distributed by through the Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC) Emergency Grant Program. November 1 is Maryland Emancipation Day. According to the 2013 Proclamation signed by Governor Martin O'Malley, this day commemorates the date of November 1, 1864, when Maryland adopted a new constitution that abolished slavery.
