Open House at the Annearrundell County Free School This Weekend

Annearrundell County Free School Museum

In 1723 the Maryland Colonial Assembly passed the Free School Act which established the building of a school in each of the twelve existing counties using tax payer money.  It is believed that the Annearrundell County Free School in Davidsonville is the only structure from that time period still standing.  The one-room schoolhouse is operated by members of the Anne Arundel Retired School Personnel Association (AARSPA).

There will be an Open House on July 8, 2023 and on July 9, 2023 from 1:00-4:00 pm. The school is located at 1298 LaVall Drive, Davidsonville, Maryland 21035.

Docents from AARSPA will be available to guide your tour of the building, discuss how education in Maryland has changed through the years, and share information on the variety of educational artifacts on display including those artifacts from an archeological dig done on the site.
