To our Stakeholders,
We are grateful for all you do to contribute to the vibrancy and sustainability of the Four Rivers Heritage Area. With your collaboration this past year, we brought an unprecedented number of grants to our heritage partners (12 state grants and 8 mini-grants), and continued a robust schedule of programs and projects. We offered several workshops, including one focused on diversifying the heritage narratives at our museums and sites. We raised awareness about the quality of local heritage experiences, and we shared best practices with colleagues. But none of us was ready for the challenges that COVID-19 brought to the sustainability of heritage nonprofits, both here and across the world.
For the first time, under the direction of the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority (MHAA), our state funding partner, we are offering Emergency Operating Assistance to our partner organizations as part of our annual Mini-Grants program. The amount of funding available ($25,000) is based on a budget planned before the pandemic, and our funds won’t go far. That’s why we are asking you to consider a timely donation to our FY2021 Mini-Grant Fund.
If you have a heritage nonprofit you would like to support directly, please do it now. Or, you can take advantage of the experienced application-vetting process that Four Rivers already has in place, to ensure that your funds have the greatest targeted impact in our local community.
We thank you for your past support and ask that you consider extending your support with a donation of $25, $50, or $100 today. Your generosity will help sustain our unique heritage community, so that our stories, buildings and places, our cultural landscapes, our traditions, and our quality of life will last and sustain us through many years to come. We hope that you and your family are staying safe.
Sincerely,
Carol Benson, Executive Director
