Maryland Heritage Areas Authority Announces Grant Awards of $276,737 to Local Heritage Organizations

The Maryland Heritage Areas Authority (MHAA) today announced 52 matching grants totaling more than $2.6 million to Maryland non-profits, local jurisdictions, and other heritage tourism organizations including museums, historic preservation, natural resources, cultural and educational organizations for projects involving historic preservation, natural resource protection, and educational programs in 13 designated Heritage Areas. Four Rivers Congratulates Al Luckenbach on Receiving Preservation Maryland’s Tyler Gearhart Award for Professional Excellence

Annapolis, MD — The Four Rivers Heritage Area congratulates Al Luckenbach, who will receive the Tyler Gearhart Award for Professional Excellence from Preservation Maryland on May 21, 2015 at their annual awards ceremony to be held in Baltimore. Dr. Al Luckenbach, who recently retired in 2014, was Anne Arundel County’s first county Archaeologist, serving 26 years and Founder and Director of the Lost Towns Project. Six Spring Mini-Grants Awarded to Non-Profit Organizations in Annapolis and Southern Anne Arundel County

Four Rivers: The Heritage Area of Annapolis, London Town & South County announces six new mini-grant awards to local heritage-related nonprofit organizations as part of our spring mini-grant opportunity. The grants totaled $11,700 for projects totaling $56,843, making the combined total for FY2015 mini-grants awarded (both fall and spring) to $21,055, for total projects of more than $83,000.
