Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary

About: In 1980 Anne Arundel County purchased 161 acres of uplands and wetlands in Jug Bay; five years later, it bought 10.4 more acres and established the land as a sanctuary. Today the Sanctuary Proper is 452 acres (including River Farm) with 11 miles of trails and a scrub-shrub and marsh boardwalks, which can take you through a natural experience of its forests, wetlands, creeks, meadows, and its wildlife. About: The 900+ acre Bacon Ridge Natural Area is a true natural gem with expansive marshes, mature forests, and at the center, its namesake creek Bacon Ridge Branch.
