Valentine’s Calligraphy Workshop

In the latter part of the 19th century, Victorians in America and Britain began making pop-up cards with hand paintings, panoramas, ribbon pull tabs and other features. Join us in learning how to make your own Valentine pop-up card with some calligraphic lettering. Attendees will make and take two cards. Ages 15 years and up. All supplies included. Voices of the Enslaved, Part II

Through 19th and early 20th century testimonies, memoirs, and interviews with those formerly enslaved, we can begin to learn about life under slavery. Each source of slave narratives has a history of its own to consider in interpreting these stories.
