Wednesday Night Sailboat Races

Spa Creek Bridge Annapolis, MD, United States

Grab your favorite dockside seat in America’s Sailing Capital to watch some 130 crews compete in midweek races that involve sailing around several marks in the Chesapeake Bay before heading back to Spa Creek for a finish in front of the Annapolis Yacht Club. For many, the post-race party is the official beginning of the weekend. Best places to view the race include Annapolis City Dock and the Spa Creek Bridge First gun is approximately 6:10 p.m.

African American Experience Tour

The African American Experience Tour will cover the stories of men and women, both enslaved and free, who maintained, and lived in Hammond-Harwood House.  Attendees will learn about the lives of three enslaved women - Mary, Matilda, and Juliet - who worked at the house in the early to mid-19th century.  Other topics will include how petitions for freeing certain enslaved men and women were handled, the aims of the American Colonization Society, and the successes and setbacks of one early African-American artist. $5 per person/Members Free

Sundae Sundays at Captain Avery

At Capt. Avery Museum's August 13 Sundae Sunday, special guest Pamela Moore, director of Edgewater's National Ballet Company, will lead an interactive reading of The Tale of Peter Rabbit. Kids in the audience will be invited to participate and everyone can pet a real lop-eared rabbit. Also available: lawn games, sketching in the garden, and sundaes! Admission free. Sundaes $3 and $1.50 (kid size).

London Town Summer Concert Series

Sunday, August 13 - Guava Jelly Enjoy music in gardens overlooking the South River. Bring your family (and your dogs!) and spread out on our lawn for a relaxing time. Bring a picnic or visit a food truck! Drink purchases support London Town's programming. No alcohol is allowed to be brought on site but can be purchased at London Town. Rain or shine.​ Free with a suggested donation of $10 per person.
