Odenton Heritage Society Open House

Odenton Heritage Society Historical Center 1367 Odenton Road, Odenton, MD

The Open House at the Odenton Heritage Society Museum on Sunday, November 7 will feature a display about Sappington School, an elementary school for African American children that stood near today's roundabout from the 1920s to the 1940s.  Located adjacent to Macedonia Methodist Church in a wooden building moved from Camp Meade, the school served area children until about 1950, when several Black schools in the area were replaced by George Washington Carver Consolidated School near Crofton.  Desegregation later ended racially separated school systems.  The OHS Historical Center is located...
