Learning at London Town: What’s in a Tree?

In this science- and observation-focused program, children will explore the gardens and learn all about the trees that live at London Town. We’ll spend time discussing the differences between types of trees, and carry out a tree-themed experiment. ​ For the safety of participants and staff, this event will be held outside with appropriate distancing, group sizes, and cleaning in accordance with CDC and local guidance.​ $8 for member children grades 1 - 4 (become one today!). $10 for non-member children grades 1 - 4​. Virtual Lecture – Tubman Travels: Underground Railroad Journeys and Life Lessons from Tubman, Douglass, and Other Champions of Freedom

Maryland’s Eastern Shore was home to two American heroes of the first order in Underground Railroad conductor Harriet Tubman and antislavery activist Frederick Douglass. In this presentation, award-winning writer and storyteller Jim Duffy shares keystone stories from the very different journeys those two took out of bondage and into the history books. Virtual Event: Lessons of Lynching

On Wednesday, September 16th, from 6pm to 8pm, the Maryland Lynching Truth & Reconciliation Commission will present, Lessons of Lynching, a panel to discuss the tragic circumstances, residual vestiges, and frightening reminders of the bigotry which allowed these acts to occur without redress in the 19th and 20th century history of our state. The panel will be moderated by Commissioner Carl Snowden.

Virtual Lecture – An Introduction to 18th Century Furniture and Construction

Join Cabinetmaker Tony Lovett to explore the different furniture periods of the 18th century, as well as those individuals that had a lasting impact on the period’s furniture designs.
