February 9 – In Slavery and Freedom: Sierra Leone’s Ties to the Americas
Nemata Blyden will explore the connections between the small West African nation of Sierra Leone and the Americas. The connections wrought by the slave trade show how Africans in the Americas maintained ties with Africa. The case of Sierra Leone shows how various groups made those connections.
