For National Pollinator Week, kids can help London Town make pollinator hotels in the Sound & Sensory Garden. They’ll take a special pollination-inspired garden tour before constructing a pollinator hotel to take home. These “hotels” will help out the pollinators in their own backyards.
Staff and volunteers will demonstrate different techniques for the construction of a bee hotel with natural materials. You’ll learn about maintenance of the hotel, the importance of providing homes for solitary bees and other insects, and at-home solutions to help further pollinator conservation efforts.
After the London Town hotel is complete, make your own miniature pollinator hotel to take home! Spend the rest of the day learning how to dance like a bee and other games to learn about the wonderful world of pollination.
Fee for participating children ages 6 – 14: $12 for members, $15 for non-members. Fee includes garden tour and materials used in take-home bee houses. (No fee for accompanying adults.)
