Wave the Flag

In this 60-minute program for children, we will learn about a 1783 flag designed by Annapolis cabinet maker John Shaw as well as flag designs from colonial America, the American Revolution, and the early United States. Children will listen to a story about American flags and then will have the opportunity to create a flag of their own design. Space is limited, reservations are required. $15 per child/ $10 per member’s child.

On Sunday, July 3, the Odenton Heritage Society will commemorate the beginning of train service on the Amtrak-MARC Penn Line with an addition to the Society's railroad display.  In July 1872 -- 150 years ago -- steam-powered trains began running between Baltimore and Washington through Odenton.  Modernized over the years, this line became a vital part of local and intercity transportation.  Train service shaped Odenton's growth through employment, troop movements, commuting opportunities, and a busy junction with a railroad to Annapolis and Fort George G. Fourth of July events at the William Paca House and Garden commemorate the Maryland patriot’s approval of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. The day begins with an inspirational Naturalization Ceremony on the outdoor terrace, when people from communities around the globe become our nation’s newest citizens in a ceremony conducted by officials from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. July 7- Dublin 5 The Tides & Tunes Summer Concert Series offers 10 weeks of popular music–from rock to folk to blues–with the incomparable backdrop of the Chesapeake Bay. Concerts are free; however, donations are gratefully accepted. Food and spirits are available for purchase. Beverage sales support the Museum’s education program. No outside alcohol is permitted.
