Four Marylanders—William Paca, Samuel Chase, Charles Carroll of Carrollton, and Thomas Stone—were among the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776, and each of them lived in Annapolis at one time or another. Historic Annapolis Senior Historian Glenn E. Campbell profiles the four Maryland patriots who pledged their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor in support of American independence. Tides & Tunes Summer Concert

June 30- John Frase Project The Tides & Tunes Summer Concert Series offers 10 weeks of popular music–from rock to folk to blues–with the incomparable backdrop of the Chesapeake Bay. Concerts are free; however, donations are gratefully accepted. Food and spirits are available for purchase. Beverage sales support the Museum’s education program. No outside alcohol is permitted. Bring a chair or blanket. Concerts will start at 7 p.m. at the Museum’s waterfront McNasby campus (723 Second St., Annapolis).

Wave the Flag

In this 60-minute program for children, we will learn about a 1783 flag designed by Annapolis cabinet maker John Shaw as well as flag designs from colonial America, the American Revolution, and the early United States. Children will listen to a story about American flags and then will have the opportunity to create a flag of their own design. Space is limited, reservations are required. $15 per child/ $10 per member’s child.

This lecture by Dr. Richard Bell surveys these Hessian mercenaries’ contributions to the British war machine, including their efforts to sweep Washington’s army out of New York City and back to New Jersey.
