Updated Information for Stakeholders – REVISED for Fall 2022

Following our recent Boundary Amendment, the Chesapeake Crossroads Heritage Area’s geographical footprint has nearly doubled in size and many new attractions, parks, heritage sites, and other organizations are now part of our stakeholder “family,” and eligible for the grants and other activities of the program.

How do I check whether my site or heritage project is in the heritage area?

We include stakeholder information here on our website, www.chesapeakecrossroads.org. We seek to include our new attractions on the website, so please contact us at [email protected] to share information and photos with us for your site’s listing.

We send a weekly E-newsletter each Tuesday morning; if you would like us to include information about your events or other activities, please send a message to [email protected] where our staff will see it. This is also true for listings on our events calendar on our website. If you would like your events to be included, please send your notice to us! See the calendar here:  https://chesapeakecrossroads.org/events/. If you would like to be on the mailing list to receive the E-newsletter, please send your contact e-mail to the address listed above.

If your organization is interested in grants, the best way to see the announcements and workshops for the grant opportunities is to subscribe to our E-newsletter. There are two grants available to sites in our heritage area — the MHAA Grant (Capital and Non-Capital grants are available), and the Chesapeake Crossroads Mini-Grant. Please see this page on our website for more information: https://chesapeakecrossroads.org/partners/grant-program/.
Note there are two tabs for the two types of grants. The Mini-Grant opportunity was announced in early September, with a due date of October 5. The MHAA Grant information comes out in December of each year, and the Intent to Apply form is due at the end of the following January.

We also have an Annual Awards Ceremony; the Call for Nominations for Honorees for Fall 2022 has been announced, and the ceremony is scheduled for early November.

Our partners, old and new, might want to participate in our annual Maryland Day event in March; please let us know if you think you might be interested, because planning meetings begin on September 15th.

We also have a very lively Education Committee; contact us if you would like to attend the next meeting; these meetings take place approximately every two months and are usually conducted over Zoom.

We sponsor collaborative events, for the application and criteria, please see our Sponsorships page.

We offer a NEW small grant to small organizations, please see this post.

Finally, we conduct an annual Site Directors Summit. We hope your site will be represented at the next meeting, where all in attendance share updates and plans for the coming year. Contact the office at [email protected] to attend.

NOTE: THIS YEAR, DUE TO OUR FIVE-YEAR PLANNING PROCESS, SITE DIRECTORS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND ONE OF TWO STAKEHOLDER LISTENING SESSIONS IN LIEU OF AN OCTOBER SUMMIT. Heritage area staff asks our partner sites to keep us informed of your upcoming projects that will be seeking grant support, so we can incorporate your projects into our priorities list. Please see the worksheet below. DUE DATE: December 16, 2022.

Thanks, and we are glad to include you in our heritage area activities! Best wishes.
