Anne Arundel County is brimming with captivating destinations waiting to be explored and visited. One exceptional gem in Annapolis renowned for its role as an arts hub is Maryland Hall, at 801 Chase Street in Annapolis. I should admit my bias, having worked there (!), but it truly stands out as a wonderful venue for immersing oneself in the world of the arts.
This landmark for the arts is located in the original Annapolis High School. Maryland Hall was founded in 1979 by a group of visionary artists who believed that the space should be put to meaningful use. What were once classrooms, science laboratories and a cafeteria have been transformed into vibrant artistic spaces.
Maryland Hall offers a wealth of creative opportunities, including art classes, performances, gallery spaces, and more. What’s particularly remarkable is the inclusivity of their classes, which are offered to all ages. Whether you’re a child or an adult, there’s something for every member of the family, from ceramics studios to dance classes, jewelry making and so much more!
One of the highlights of Maryland Hall for me is the diverse range of classes. Last winter, I had the privilege of participating in an adult dance class, and it was an immensely enjoyable experience. Having a place where you can express yourself and connect with like-minded individuals is truly enriching.
Another beloved aspect of Maryland Hall is its art galleries. These galleries are always open to the public, and the changing exhibitions regularly feature cohesive themes. When the exhibitions open, there’s often an accompanying reception, providing yet another wonderful opportunity to meet people and immerse yourself in the art.
Maryland Hall also features an outstanding theater venue that serves as the stage for a wide array of performances, featuring esteemed groups such as the Annapolis Opera, Ballet Theatre of Maryland, and other companies that also promise to inspire and captivate your senses!
In summary, Maryland Hall is a fantastic destination for immersing yourself in the arts, embarking on a personal artistic journey, and creating lasting memories. You can easily register for classes and purchase tickets through their website. Don’t forget to peruse the community calendar for information on free events. Find out more here.
