Shuttered Venue Operators Grant Information

GrantsTake note! The forthcoming Shuttered Venue Operators (SVO) Grant offered through the US Small Business Administration provides emergency assistance for eligible venues affected by the COVID pandemic.

Eligible applicants may qualify for SVO Grants equal to 45% of their gross earned revenue, with the maximum amount available for a single grant award of $10 million.

Eligible entities include:

  • Live venue operators or promoters
  • Theatrical producers
  • Live performing arts organization operators
  • Relevant museum operators, zoos and aquariums who meet specific criteria
  • Motion picture theater operators
  • Talent representatives, and
  • Each business entity owned by an eligible entity that also meets the eligibility requirements

In addition to the above information, SBA’s Shuttered Venue Operators Grant webpage provides a full list of allowable use of funds and details on priority grant funding rounds.

Since museum operators, including historic homes, are among eligible applicants, we thought it was important to share some updates and resources on this grant so organizations can be as prepared as possible when the application round finally opens.

If you missed the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant webinar on January 14, you can still watch the archived video on YouTube for a preliminary overview of the program.

SBA has also recently posted a new Shuttered Venue Operators Grants – FAQ, including questions specifically addressed to qualifying museum operators.

If you have additional questions, you can email [email protected].

We do not yet know when the grant will open, but the Four Rivers Heritage Area will let our partners know when it’s possible to begin submitting their applications.
