Maryland Day: Unpaused continues! Traditionally taking place over a weekend, the Maryland Day celebration in the Four Rivers Heritage Area is a unique heritage-based group of events in Annapolis and southern Anne Arundel County. Due to COVID-19, many of this year’s activities have been re-envisioned through online content and virtual experiences. With our local historic sites opening to the public, you can now Save the Date to attend these upcoming events taking place live and in-person, brought to you by some of our Maryland Day partners. Our sites are prepared to welcome you back with safety in mind and social-distancing measures in place.
Visit Historic Goshen Farm & Education Center on Friday, July 10 to enjoy the first in their Free Friday Night Summer Concert Series. End your week on a high note and rock in the weekend with their new 2020 line-up. It’s an expansive, family-friendly setting right here in Cape St. Claire on the Broadneck Penisula. You can walk, bike, or drive over to hear great tunes, enjoy friends, and relax. So pack up the blankets, grab some snacks and head over. All music is by local artists. Two groups/band perform each night from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
Celebrate all things Maryland in the William Paca Garden! On Saturday, July 18, join Historic Annapolis in commemorating the founding of the state of Maryland for a Maryland Day: Unpaused celebration. Bring your friends and family to step back in time in the garden, where you’ll find colonials sharing their trades and demonstrating their skills. Plus, have some fun with family-friendly activities! The cost to attend is $1 per person.
Historic London Town and Gardens is delighted to announce a modified version of their beloved living history program: Revolutionary London Town! On Saturday, August 8, examine the ideals of the American Revolution through a socially distanced, outdoor-only guided tour of the site. During the tour, you will learn about: the concerns of everyday citizens in London Town on the eve of revolution; the ideals and aspirations of Beck, an enslaved woman working in London Town; Elizabeth Ferguson, the local businesswoman enslaving Beck; and the concerns of those in maritime trades, as impending war loomed. Meet citizens who joined the Continental forces and took up the fight. Discuss the grievances listed/outlined in the Declaration of Independence with interpreters/reenactors from the United States Marine Corps Historical Company.
