Request for Proposals – Art of Activism Exhibition and Outdoor Banner Display

Art of Activism AdvertisementCalling all Maryland-based Black Artists!

Together in partnership, Maryland Hall, Banneker Douglass Museum and Maryland Commission of African American History and Culture are seeking six Black artists in Maryland for an exciting new exhibition, Art of Activism.

Art of Activism explores both the historical protest art of the 1960s and the ways in which current Maryland-based Black artists are using their work as a statement of activism.

Artists, whose work encapsulates activism and social justice through education will take a Black Lives Matter banner to use as a canvas for justice. The artists, in addition to having their finished banners displayed on the MD Hall campus, will participate in a curated exhibition, Art of Activism, opening in January 2021.

The exhibit will be on display January 8 – February 27, 2021 at Maryland Hall. Additional artists will be selected for smaller Black Lives Matter banners at the Banneker Douglass Museum.
