Pop-Up Heritage FREE Events Kick Off in June!

Pop-Up Heritage is a new series of FREE special events each month in the Four Rivers Heritage Area. Join us in June for our inaugural event:

“Preserving Digital Prints: Protecting Your Photos and Ink jet Documents from the 1980s to Now”

In the 1980s, many new technologies allowed us to print photos faster and cheaper! Archivists and conservators are finding that some of the printing methods used to print them are vulnerable to fade or sensitive to water damage. This Pop-Up Heritage talk is for you if you are thinking about how to preserve photographs and digitally-printed documents created in the past 30 years.

Maria Day serves as the Director of Special Collections and Conservation at Maryland State Archives, where she has worked since 2008. She was formerly a museum educator, and has also taught art history to high school and college students. Ms. Day’s specialist areas include Colonial American history, as well as art, architecture and design from 1850-1950. She earned her degrees at Indiana University, Bloomington and at University of Maryland, College Park.
