Journey into the history, culture, and fun of the Chesapeake region with Annapolis Tours by Watermark. Join a period-attired guide to explore the Annapolis historic district, Maryland State House, United States Naval Academy, and more. Watermark’s tour guides bring history to life for adults, students, and groups of all types.

Field Trips:

  • Annapolis Harbor & U.S. Naval Academy Cruise (All ages | 40 minutes): Explore history, navigation, architecture, and ecology on this narrated cruise around historic Annapolis and the
  • Chesapeake 101 Package (All ages | 3 hours): Visit the Annapolis Maritime Museum for a two-hour environmental literacy program with team-building, crabbing, oyster ecology and more led by docents. Then, continue your adventure with a 40-minute cruise. Transportation between locations not included.
  • Chesapeake Eco Cruise (K-5th Grade | 1 hour): Explore the Chesapeake Bay’s ecosystem out on the water. Learn about blue crabs, eels, oysters, ospreys, and more! In partnership with the Annapolis Maritime Museum.
  • Colonial Stroll in Annapolis (all ages | 90 minutes): Students stroll past middling homes and gentry mansions on their way to explore the Maryland State House. Your period-attired guide will share stories about life in the 18th century and the important figures that helped make Annapolis and Maryland what we see today. Consistent with Maryland’s 4th- and 5th-grade social studies curriculum.

    • Colonial Tradesperson’s House – Hogshead (20-30 minutes): Learn what life was like for the “lower and middling sort” in early Maryland.
    • Historic Dining Room (15 minutes): Explore the historically preserved dining room at the Hammond-Harwood House, built in 1774 and a National Historic Landmark today.
    • 18th-Century Kitchen (15 minutes): Catch a glimpse of how the colonial upper class lived in the historically restored kitchen at the home of William Paca, a signer of the Declaration of Independence.
    • Signers of the Declaration (6th-12th Grade | 30 minutes): Discover the lives of the four Maryland signers. Maximums apply.
    • Museum of Historic Annapolis (30-60 minutes): Immerse your students in dramatic stories of Annapolis and its diverse people.
  • Maryland State House Tour: Discover four centuries of Maryland history at the nation’s oldest state capitol in continuous legislative use.
  • U.S. Naval Academy: Experience the sights and sounds of the U.S. Naval Academy, home to more than 4,000 midshipmen.
  • Colonial Eye Spy (K-3rd Grade | 1½ hours): Through stories, games and imagination, students gain insight into being a child in colonial times.
  • Pirates of the Chesapeake (3rd-5th Grade | 1 hour): Explore maritime history, learn seafaring skills, and hear tales of piracy on an entertaining cruise with sing-alongs and our rowdy pirates.
  • African American Heritage (6th-12th Grade | 2 hours): Retrace the journey from the first ships of slavery through centuries of struggle to modern-day recognition and success. Presented in partnership with the Kunta Kinte-Alex Haley Foundation.
  • Weird, Wacky, & Unusual History (6th-12th Grade | 1¼ hours): Learn curiously true stories about a variety of people, places, and events around Annapolis.
  • Women’s History (6th-12th Grade | 2 hours): From Harriet Tubman to Barbara Mikulski to Anne Green … Join your period-attired Suffragist and learn about the roles of women in society over the centuries, those who broke down barriers, and their impact on our world today.
