History of Equal Rights Grant Program (HER)

The National Park Service (NPS) is proud to announce a new competitive civil rights grant program. The History of Equal Rights Grant Program (HER) will preserve sites related to the struggle to achieve the ideal of equal rights in America. HER Grants are funded by the Historic Preservation Fund (HPF), administered by the NPS, and will fund a broad range of preservation projects for historic sites including: architectural services, historic structure reports, preservation plans, and physical preservation to structures. Grants are awarded through a competitive process and do not require non-Federal match.
African American Civil Rights Grant Program (AACR)

The National Park Service (NPS) is proud to announce the expansion of the African American Civil Rights Grant Program (AACR). This year the program will document, interpret, and preserve sites telling the full story of the long struggle for African American civil rights from the transatlantic slave trade onwards. The NPS 2008 report, Civil Rights in America, A Framework for Identifying Significant Sites, will serve as the GUIDANCE document. AACR Grants are funded by the Historic Preservation Fund (HPF), administered by the NPS, and will fund a broad range of preservation projects including survey and inventory, National Register nominations, oral histories and more. Grants are awarded through a competitive process and do not require non-Federal match.
Save America’s Treasures (SAT)
Application Deadline: January 26
The National Park Service (NPS) is pleased to announce that applications for $16 million in Save America’s Treasures (SAT) funding are now open. Eligible Preservation projects must be individually listed as a National Historic Landmark or be a contributing property within a National Historic Landmark district, individually listed in the National Register of Historic Places for national significance (properties listed at the state or local significance are not eligible) or be a contributing property within a nationally significant National Register Historic District. Properties include buildings, sites, structures and objects.
