Each year, the Maryland Tourism Coalition hosts an Annual Maryland Tourism & Travel Summit, and the Maryland Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs) give an award to an entity that has added and enhanced the efforts of tourism across the state. This year the Maryland Heritage Areas Program was selected as the DMO Partner of 2024. The heritage areas program and the local tourism offices often work hand in hand to develop heritage tourism products, such as the award-winning Civil Rights Guide project by Visit Annapolis and Anne Arundel County, and shared content across our social media channels and websites.
