Four Rivers Featured Events – Annapolis Halloween Happenings!

Halloween HappeningsAlthough we already shared this week’s partner events with you, because we’ve got an extra special spooky holiday coming up we wanted to especially highlight a couple of outstanding Halloween celebrations taking place in Annapolis, just in time to help you plan your weekend!

Did you know the Hammond-Harwood House has been holding Halloween events for kids for over 20 years? Although they cannot host their traditional Pumpkin Walk this year, they welcome you to join them for Pumpkins on the Avenue.  Help them celebrate Halloween by bringing a decorated pumpkin and adding it to their Pumpkin Patch on the front lawn of the Hammond-Harwood House (19 Maryland Ave, Annapolis) between 12:00 to 4:00 pm on Friday, October 30 2020.

While you’re there, pick up a pre-packed goodie bag, enjoy a scavenger hunt in the front lawn, take photos and post on social media. Or, watch storyteller Andrea Lovett for a frighteningly tame story and a few belly laughs in the online video telling of the Ghost With The One Black Eye. All participants will be masked and socially distanced, with no crowds or games. The event is free to attend but donations are appreciated.

On Saturday, October 31, from 10:00 am – 2:30 pm, come to the William Paca Garden (186 Prince George Street, Annapolis) for Living History in the Garden: Mr. Paca’s Spooky Birthday, hosted by Historic Annapolis. Experience the William Paca Garden come to life as the fabulously dressed gentry of Colonial Annapolis gather to celebrate Mr. Paca’s birthday. Yes, this Signer of the Declaration of Independence was, in fact, born on October 31st. You are invited to come stroll the garden in a costume of any era or style and join in the celebration – no tricks, all treats!

For an extra-spooky good time, take one of their guided tours on this Halloween day. Your docent will share all things spooky, tales of disease, and about the potions and lotions that could be made from the plantings in the garden (Tours offered at 10 am, 11 am, 12 pm, and 1 pm; pre-registration recommended). The cost to attend is included with admission to the William Paca Garden (starting at $5).

Still looking for more Halloween fun in Annapolis? Take a Sunset Cruise aboard the Wilma Lee with the Annapolis Maritime Museum on Saturday, October 31, or a special Historic Hauntings Tour with Watermark all weekend through Saturday, October 31.

Have a safe, happy, and maybe even slightly scary, Halloween!
