DESCRIPTION:November 2\, 2024\, at the Rising Sun Inn located at 1090 General’s Highway\, Crownsville. Tours will be conducted between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.\, with the last tour starting at 9:30 p.m. Admission is $15 for adults\, $5.00 for children ages 3 –10\, and children under 3 are free. \nThe Rising Sun Inn\, with a history spanning four centuries\, has been home to many generations of families. Learn about the lives of some of those residents and learn about those residents who never left. This family-friendly ghost stories tour is suitable for visitors of all ages. Hear stories collected from first-hand accounts of ghostly encounters; tour areas of the Inn not regularly open to the public\, and top the evening off with some cider and cookies. While this event promises to be family-friendly\, the Inn will be dark with the exception of candlelight. Families with younger children may want to join us during the first hour take advantage of the fading daylight. \nPurchasing tickets in advance is recommended\, but NOT required! While we cannot guarantee entrance for “walk-ins” at the time of arrival\, we can ordinarily acommodate you and your group within 15 minutes of arrival time. DESCRIPTION:Join the Friends of the Rising Sun Inn on October 19\, 2024\, at 1:00PM for a Tavern Talk and Tea as we mark the 250th Anniversary of the Burning of the Peggy Stewart\, Annapolis’s own Revolutionary War Tea Party! Enjoy an Afternoon Tea with local volunteer\, Don Bailey\, as the Friends celebrate this very special 250th anniversary commemorating the Maryland Colonies march to the Revolution. \nThe colonists were fighting against taxes being levied on them by King George III. In protest\, rebels in Boston had disguised themselves\, boarded a ship arriving from England\, and dumped its cargo of tea into the water. When the Peggy Stewart arrived from England\, the Rebels in Annapolis also refused to pay the tax. In similar fashion\, on October 19\, 1774\, they burned the ship and its cargo to the water level. Here their story and Maryland’s march to Revolution. \nTickets are $48.00 per person and include an Afternoon Tea (sandwiches\, sweets\, and tea)\, with of course an American Tea\, and presentation by local volunteer\, Don Bailey. \n$53.07 per person \n

DESCRIPTION:In October of 1774\, the people of Annapolis discovered that the brigantine\, the Peggy Stewart\, contained contraband tea that violated the colonists’ non-importation resolution.  In response to public outrage\, ship owner Anthony Stewart was forced to burn the Peggy Stewart with the tea onboard down to the waterline with sails and colors still flying! The burning of Peggy Stewart heightened the divide between American patriots from those loyal to the crown – as the colonies continued to march toward revolution! \n  \nVisit with the colonial townspeople of Annapolis on Pinkney Street for our largest living history event of the year! Stop in at the Waterfront Warehouse\, the Shiplap House and Hogshead and encounter local sailors\, merchants and business owners and discover what they thought of this historic event. DESCRIPTION:Come join the Friends of the Rising Sun Inn as they welcome Pasadena Paranormal back on Friday\, October 18th as they take you on a public paranormal tour of the Rising Sun Inn. Enjoy a drink and lite nibbles as they explain their methods and review the equipment used. They will attempt to communicate with the spirits tied to the Inn using the flashlight method\, cat balls\, multiple types of EMF and ultrasonic motion sensors. They will also try to capture visual evidence with the SLS camera and Infrared cameras. Sit in and conduct your own ITC sessions with the Echovox and Pasadena Paranormal ghost box and see if you can connect with the spirits with some real time communication. Tour with experienced investigators. Bring your own equipment and conduct your own investigation as well. This is a highly active location so the tour should be a good one! \nCost is $45 per person. DESCRIPTION:Join us for the 250th anniversary celebration of a historic moment in Annapolis history! \nOn October 15\, 1774\, eleven months after the Sons of Liberty protested the Tea Act by dumping British East India Company tea into Boston harbor on December 13\, 1773\, Maryland patriots held their own “tea party.” This lecture describes why and how Maryland patriot leaders convinced Annapolis merchant Anthony Stewart to destroy his own ship\, the PEGGY STEWART\, in Annapolis harbor to prevent its cargo of tea from being landed and taxed. The incident demonstrated that resistance to British colonial policies was not confined to New England and had some surprising results. \nRegistration required.
