HA volunteers personally raise over 8,000 plants – perennials, annuals, trees, vines, and vegetable starts – that represent the best of the old and the new. In 1811, Frances Loockerman moved into the Hammond-Harwood House with her husband and three children. Over the next 46 years, she saw the neighborhood transform. On this walking tour of Maryland Avenue, led by Hammond-Harwood House Curator, Lucinda Dukes Edinberg, we will visit places Frances would have known, note changes she would have been aware of, and fill in the streetscape she could not have imagined. Annearrundell County Free School

Annearrundell County Free School Museum 1298 LaVall Drive, Davidsonville

The Annearrundell County Free School was established by the Colonial Assembly almost 300 years ago.  Each of the then twelve existing counties in the state were expected to build a one-room schoolhouse with taxpayer money going for the purchase of the land and building of the schoolhouse.  Students paid a tuition and one of the school's most celebrated students was Johns Hopkins.
