MHT Listening Session

Join Maryland Historical Trust (MHT) Director Elizabeth Hughes for a listening session. MHT invites cultural heritage organizations and others involved in preservation around the state for a chat about the challenges resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and the road to recovery. Feedback and the peer-to-peer exchange will help inform MHT’s programs and technical assistance in the coming year. Space is limited so please register in advance. This session is free to attend.

Children’s Workshop: Mini Dinner Garden

The only thing more fun than eating your favorite food is growing it in your garden! Children will learn how to plant and care for their own miniature garden. Each child will leave the workshop with a hand-decorated pot containing plants to harvest for family dinners. You can select from two favorite foods Pizza Garden: Basil, Oregano, Thyme or Taco Garden: Cilantro, Chive, Jalapeno Pepper.

​Cost to attend is $25 for member children or $30 for non-member children. This event is for children ages 6 – 12. Pre-registration is required as limited seating is available. For the safety of participants and staff, this event will be held outside with appropriate distancing, group sizes, and cleaning in accordance with CDC and local guidance.

Secret Garden Tour

The 2021 Secret Garden Tour features private gardens in the Historic District. Murray Hill, the area between West Street and Spa Creek, holds a beautiful collection of homes built in various periods and architectural styles. The 130-year-old community with its tree-lined streets is the perfect setting for an afternoon of garden exploration. All the gardens featured in 2021 epitomize the goals of the home gardener: to have a beautiful space filled with flowers, trees, shrubs, grasses, and other garden elements, a space that is a pleasure to live in and inspirational to work in.

Buy your ticket in advance. Tickets for the tour are $30 in advance and $35 the day of the event. Tickets are valid for both Saturday and Sunday tours. This is a rain or shine event.

Maryland Arts Summit

The Maryland Arts Summit, now in its third year, is presented by and for the Maryland arts sector and curated by the Maryland State Arts Council, Maryland Citizens for the Arts, the Fine Arts Office of the Maryland State Department of Education, and Arts Education in Maryland Schools. The 2021 Maryland Arts Summit: Art of the Community will hold six live sessions June 3 – 4, 2021 focusing on current topics in the Maryland creative sector.

The Summit will also include Creative Keynote opportunities for engagement, inviting participants to make and share art in real time, as well as contribute to affinity group discussions centered on their specific role within the arts sector. Register in advance. The Maryland Arts Summits is free to attend.
