Winter Lecture: Brook Trout in Maryland

Scope of Presentation

Matt will explore the brief history of brook trout in Maryland, their current status, life history strategies, and what we’ve learned. Conservation and management efforts and downstream impacts on the Chesapeake Bay will also be discussed.

Presenter

Matt Sell has been the Brook Trout Specialist for Maryland’s Department of Natural Resources since 2009.  Prior to that, he worked in various roles performing stream survey work across most of Maryland.  Matt attended Frostburg State University from 2000 through 2004 where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Fisheries Management. Matt is an avid angler for virtually all fish that swim in Maryland, with a special place in his heart for trout fishing.  He also has a passion for wildlife photography, hunting, and trail running.
