Using Digital Books in Genealogical In Research

July 11, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Anne Arundel Genealogical Society is pleased to introduce guest speaker Cindy Steinhoff, director of the Andrew G. Truxal Library at Anne Arundel Community College.
Cindy will introduce researchers to HathiTrust, a collection of more than 17 million digital books, and Genealogy Connect, a database of books available through the Anne Arundel County Public Library (AACPL).
More than 6.5 million of the books in HathiTrust are in the public domain and available free of charge for anyone to use. The HathiTrust began in 2008 as collaborative project sponsored by the largest university libraries in the United States. Learn about materials in the HathiTrust database that can be useful in researching genealogy and how those resources not openly available can also assist in research.
Genealogy Connect contains hundreds of books, many published by Genealogical Publishing Company and not openly available online. Learn how to access and search this valuable collection of research materials.
