Since launching in June, nearly 2,000 people have visited The Douglass Reading Room. Join us as we continue to celebrate the “Year of Frederick Douglass” with a new exhibit opening reception to feature a second rotation of:
- artwork by famed African American artists;
- notable books, and
- a moderated discussion with Gregory Morton (exhibit curator/owner of Douglass Place in Baltimore City), and Ka’mal McClarin (Interpretive Ranger, Cedar Hill, Douglass home in Washington DC).
Guest curated by Greg Morton of Baltimore, this interactive exhibit interprets the writings and living quarters of Frederick Douglass connecting historical themes with modern day discussions. August 18-February 28 featured artists include: Romare Bearden, Nate Lewis, Alteronce Gumby, Tom Miller, Elizabeth Catlett, Arvay Adams, Mildred Thompson, Laurence Hurst, and Joan M.E.
