Celebrating the 19th Amendment at the Rising Sun Inn! Join the Friends of the Rising Sun Inn on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at 2pm for a special Tavern Talk and Tour as we mark the 104th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote. Local historic interpreter, Pat Turlington, will join us for an inspirational presentation on the achievements of notable Maryland women as they traveled the road to suffrage. Learn what was expected of women in society and what it took for women to change the course of “her-story” in 1910-1920.
Pat Turlington, an experienced docent and local history expert, began her tour guiding journey with Three Centuries Tours. Currently, she is a docent with Watermark Tours and has been for more than 30 years. She is an active volunteer bringing history to life having volunteered as a State House tour guide, Paca Garden and Hogshead docent, and Historic Annapolis living history participant. Her lifelong contributions to living history were recognized in 2017, when she received the Interpreter of the Year Award.
We look forward to you joining us for this very special program. Light refreshments will be served and guests are free to tour the Inn following the presentation.
