February 1 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Join the Friends of the Rising Sun Inn on February 1, 2025, at 1pm for this very special Tavern Talk and Tour as we celebrate African American History Month with Stories of Slavery and Freedom: Manumissions in Anne Arundel County, Presented by Professor Sydney Van Morgan and research assistant Qingxi Wang, of Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Van Morgan and Ms. Wang have been researching the manumission records of enslaved persons in Anne Arundel County prior to the Civil War. Their work brings to light the lives of enslaved persons here in Anne Arundel County and how local Quakers influenced the cause of freedom and the end of slavery.
