Perspectivas Latinas/Latinx Perspectives Opening Reception

“Perspectivas Latinas”/ “Latinx Perspectives” is an exhibition exploring the complexity within the social, cultural, political construct and artistic identities of Latin American Art. The exhibition features work by 19 local Latinx artists creating in different genres. The exhibition includes paintings, printmaking, sculpture, assemblage video and mixed media installation art. The dialogue of this collection of works is interconnected by common threads that reveal a powerful tapestry of life experiences supported conceptually and esthetically. As the viewer travels through the gallery space, they will be confronted by complex narratives layered by cross-cultural experiences, childhood memories, migration issues, displacement of native communities, environmental impact, spiritualisms, symbolism, sustainability, resiliency and vulnerability of underrepresented communities, racial segregation, immigration and injustices.
