OHS September Open House

September 1 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The Odenton Heritage Society will unveil a display about A.D. Riden & Co., a family-owned business that sold lumber and building material during the first half of the 20th century. The Home Depot of its day, Riden and its chosen location in Woodwardville, a village south of Odenton now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, breathed new life into the 19th-century railroad town. Riden’s success reflected the power of local businesses to change communities long before chain stores became common. The company also built houses in the area and fueled Odenton’s early housing boom as cars and trucks began to reshape “the town that railroads built.”

The OHS Historical Center is located at 1367 Odenton Road. Admission and tours of the museum are free. We hope to see you then!
