Next Generation Naturalists: Titian Peale’s Little Explorers

The Peale family of painter’s interests expanded beyond the canvas and out into the natural world. Patriarch Charles Willson Peale inspired a love of science in his youngest son, Titian, through his efforts with his natural history museum. Titian Peale became a noted naturalist and botanical artist. In this hands-on program participants will learn what herbs were cultivated in eighteenth and nineteenth century Maryland and how they were used for cooking and medicine.  The program features a scavenger hunt, tour of the museum, and a take home craft of a botanical drawing.
