Enjoy kayaking on a narrow, tree lined section of the Patuxent River. The paddle will start and end at Jug Bay’s Wooton’s Landing Wetland Park. This park is mile marker 49 on the Patuxent Water Trail, which means it is about 49 miles from the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. There are no water or toilet facilities available on site.
The Patuxent River is a relatively slow-moving river, but paddlers must be able to propel the canoe or kayak through the water. Participants must be able to:
• Independently participate in all activities while maintaining an appropriate and safe body position.
• Manage all personal care and personal mobility independently.
• Effectively communicate with leaders and other participants. For your safety you are required to have plenty of water (at least 32 oz pp), sunscreen, sun hat, sunglasses, and closed toe shoes that can get wet and muddy. If you lack any of these items, we can deny you participation. Bring lunch and/or snacks. If conditions do not allow for paddling, a hike may be substituted. Prompt program start time so please arrive by 8:45 am.
Ages:13 and older. Fee: $25.
