Lunch and Learn Goes to the Movies: Mr. Besley’s Forest

April 3, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Speaker: Ms.Cheryle Franceschi

In honor of Arbor Day, please join us for a screening of a film documenting Maryland’s deep roots in conservation, forestry, history, and the National Big Tree program. In 1906, the State Board of Forestry in Maryland was third in the nation to establish a system of forests, parks, and selected natural resource open-spaces. Fred W. Besley was appointed by Governor Edwin Warfield to become Maryland’s first State Forester. Mr. Besley served for 36 years. Today, Marylanders are learning his lessons of forest conservation, and listening to the music of the trees. Please join us for a screening of the beautiful documentary, Mr. Besley’s Forest and hear from the film’s writer, producer and director, Ms.Cheryle Franceschi. For more information, view the trailer of the film

Please note: A valid photo ID is required to enter the Archives building.

Feel free to bring your lunch and your questions.
