Fourth of July Events in Galesville

Parade, Re-Enactors, and Book Giveaway on Wednesday, July 4 –The Galesville Heritage Society and Galesville Community Center Organization will come together to host the annual 4th of July Parade on Main Street. Main Street closes at 12:30 p.m., Parade begins at 1 p.m. This year the parade honors the Life of Frederick Augustus Washington Bailey Douglass. Activities will include historical reenactors, a bicentennial parade float, famous quotes, and more.

Also this year, in partnership with the Frederick Douglass Family Initiative, FREE copies of the book, “The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass: An American Slave” will be given to children ages 8 to 17, immediately following the parade at the Galesville Community Center, 916 West Benning Road in Galesville. Galesville Community Center Organization thanks the donors who are making this book giveaway possible. For more information, please contact Gertrude Makell at[email protected] or (410) 703-0610.
