The Deale Area Historical Society will be presenting “Deadly Gamble,” a lecture and book signing by Author Kathy Bergren Smith. Not only will Kathy be there to tell the story and history of the book, but also John Ferguson, one of the survivors of the shipwreck of the Levin J. Marvel in Herring Bay during Hurricane Connie in 1955.
This wreck occurred on the east side of Long Bar just outside the mouth of Rockhold Creek and remains one of the most loss-of-life shipwrecks on the Chesapeake. Interesting, fascinating and tragic story. As always, it’s free admission.
