African-American History Month Events with The NEA Big Read
Chesapeake Children’s Museum, Anne Arundel County Public Libraries, and many other community partners are putting on 5 full weeks of events and discussions inspired by The Big Smoke, a book of poems by Adrian Matejka about the life of Jack Johnson, first African-American Heavyweight Boxing Champion of the World.
Live music featuring Scotti Preston singing the music of Billie Holiday and others, accompanied by Shajid on piano. The Clones of Funk move the timeline forward with James Brown, Parliament Funkadelic and more to get you on the dancefloor.
