“Carr’s and Sparrow’s Beaches” Exhibit Opening

African-American History Month Events with The NEA Big Read
Chesapeake Children’s Museum, Anne Arundel County Public Libraries, and many other community partners are putting on 5 full weeks of events and discussions inspired by The Big Smoke, a book of poems by Adrian Matejka about the life of Jack Johnson, first African-American Heavyweight Boxing Champion of the World.

Live music with Karen Somerville and Band playing tribute to the Women of the Beach including Sarah Vaughan, Nancy Wilson, Ella Fitzgerald.  There will also be a video presentation, panel, oral histories, and light refreshments.
