AMM Winter Lecture Augustine Herman’s Remarkable Map of the 17th Century Chesapeake

The Annapolis Maritime Museum holds its annual Winter Lecture Series over eight consecutive Thursday evenings at 7 p.m. from mid-January through early March. You will be challenged to question and to learn by engaging speakers on diverse topics including maritime history, local history, science, and maritime art.

Lectures are still on despite the museum being closed for flood repairs.

February 1 – Augustine Herman’s Remarkable Map of the 17th Century Chesapeake, Presenter: Professor and Author Dr. Christian J. Koot

  • As one of the most extraordinary maps of colonial English America, it pictures the Mid-Atlantic in breathtaking detail, capturing its waterways, coastlines, and communities.
  • Trace the map’s Atlantic journey and hear what it reveals about colonial Maryland.
