Chesapeake Crossroads Announces Ten Mini-Grant Awards to Local Heritage Nonprofit Organizations

Chesapeake Crossroads Heritage Area is pleased to announce ten new Mini-Grant awards to local heritage-related nonprofit organizations as part of our FY25 Mini-Grant opportunity. The grants awarded this fall totaled $27,190 for overall projects of $136,943. This matching Mini-Grants program, made possible through a Block Grant from the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority, augmented this year by CCHA fund-raised funds, leverages additional local funding to assist local heritage related non-profit organizations to create new programs, products, activities, and events that build upon heritage-based interpretive themes, foster collaborative partnerships, and enhance local cultural historic resources and heritage tourism.

Organizations and projects approved for Fall FY2025 Mini-Grant awards include:

  • Annapolis 250 Celebration, Inc., “Annapolis 250 Brochure and Map,” $3,000
  • Asbury Broadneck UMC, “Preserving the Legacy of the African American Communities on the Broadneck Peninsula,” $3,000
  • Captain Avery Museum, “From Buyboats to Beaches: 100 Years of Resiliency on the Chesapeake Bay,” $3,000
  • Chesapeake Arts Center, “World Art Day Open House Upgraded,” $3,000
  • Chesapeake Children’s Museum, “64 Years of Civil Rights in Annapolis and Anne Arundel County,” $3,000
  • Frederick Douglass Museum and Cultural Center, “A Virtual Tour of the Frederick Douglass Museum and Cultural Center,” $1,190
  • Historic Annapolis, Inc., “Representation of Denby at the William Paca House,” $2,000
  • Kunta Kinte-Alex Haley Foundation, “Alex Haley Memorial 25-Year Anniversary Celebration,” $3,000
  • Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, “Cerqua Rivera Dance Performance and Free Workshop,” $3,000
  • Pride of Baltimore, Inc. (Pride of Baltimore II), “Experiencing the Chesapeake Crossroads Heritage Area from the Water,” $3,000
