Jug Bay Emory Waters Nature Preserve

Jug Bay Emory Waters Nature Preserve

About:

The Jug Bay Emory Waters Nature Preserve was named after Mr. Emory Waters to honor him, his cultural heritage and that of all African Americans that worked and lived within Jug Bay and the Patuxent River Watershed. This 307-acre Patuxent riverfront gem hosts 225 acres of forests, 64.5 acres of fields and meadows, a 0.45 acre vineyard, two creeks, and a rich archaeological history including two houses more than 150 years old. Current public access to this property is through the Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary Proper by hiking the Farm Connector Trail, which links the Sanctuary to this Preserve. Visitors can also enjoy two canoe campsites and public programming organized and led by Sanctuary staff, so come and join us to discover this beautiful part of Jug Bay.
