Applications Open for “Maryland Strong Economic Recovery Initiative” Nonprofit Grants

Grants for NonprofitsThe Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is administering funding for the Governor’s Maryland Strong Economic Recovery Initiative (MD-SERI). These funds will support the state’s nonprofit tourism organizations, entertainment venues and businesses across Maryland​.

The following opportunities may be relevant for some of our heritage partners:

Tourism Nonprofits (Open for Applications)

DHCD’S MD-SERI Tourism Nonprofits will allocate funds to the state’s nonprofit tourism producing organizations, such as museums, cultural attractions, zoos, aquariums whose mission and work substantially contributes to the economic development and now economic recovery of Maryland communities through visitor driven events and programs.

Application Deadline: Wednesday, November 18 at 5:00 pm, or sooner if grant requests exceed funding available.

Entertainment Venues (Applications Opening Soon)

DHCD’s MD-SERI Entertainment Venues will be for the state’s nonprofit and for-profit live music and performance venues as well as independently-owned local movie theaters whose primary mission and work substantially contributes to the economic development and now economic recovery of Maryland communities through employment, visitor driven events, programs and performances.

Note: Non-profits that are largely live entertainment oriented – theatres, concert halls, etc. – are eligible for funding through the Entertainment Venues application.
