Four Rivers is pleased to announce that a ninth grant from this year’s Maryland Heritage Areas Authority (MHAA) grant cycle has been approved in our heritage area! A capital grant to Chesapeake Children’s Museum, originally on the “reserve” list for funding, has been approved following a Budget Amendment passed by the Maryland Legislature and Governor Hogan.
“Welcome Way” will support construction of a paved walkway that brings visitors safely out of the parking lot and leads them to the front door and ramp; and design, construction, and installation of 10 interactive panels to be placed along the side of the walkway to teach visitors of all ages about local wildlife, weather, good stewardship, and more. This signage will be in Spanish and English.
This brings the total of the MHAA grants that have been awarded to organizations in our heritage area in FY20 to a new record amount, which is $529,500 for projects, totaling $1,663,280. Congratulations to our partners at Chesapeake Children’s Museum for receiving this important funding!
