Activities and Openings in the Four Rivers Heritage Area This Weekend

Have a Nice WeekendAlthough we don’t have any big reopenings to announce this weekend, we wanted to let you know about an upcoming opening as well as activities taking place in the Four Rivers Heritage Area so you can consider making our partners part of your weekend plans.

Openings and Activities

Tours are a great socially distanced activity, so this weekend, join a Watermark tour focused on local history. During their Colonial Annapolis Walking Tour, you can stroll through the charming streets of the historic district with your colonial attired guide who will share the unique history and culture of 18th century Annapolis. Tours are Thursday-Sunday, 10:30am-12:00pm. With the Colonial Annapolis and William Paca Walking Tour, you’ll enjoy every stop on the regular Colonial Annapolis Walking Tour, then continue on to the beautiful and spacious William Paca Garden for a guided tour among this two acre oasis of natural beauty originally constructed in the 1760’s. Tours are Thursday-Saturday, 10:30am-12:30pm. Finally, even summer’s a good time for a ghost story. On the Historic Ghost Tour a spirited period-dressed guide will lead you by candlelight through downtown Annapolis and tell stories of unexplained footsteps, the Gravedigger, and souls hanged to save room in local jails. Tours are Friday and Saturday, 8:00-9:30pm

Although you’ll need to wait until the weekend is over, if you’re a member of Hammond-Harwood House we have exciting news! Beginning Monday, August 3rd, they’re welcoming members back to the museum for a soft opening week. This is a special opportunity for members only the first week to enjoy the Hammond-Harwood House and see their two new exhibitions, Decadent Décor: Global Imports in an Early American Port City and Slavery at Hammond-Harwood House. Hours are 12:00-5:00 pm daily, closed on Tuesdays. Tours will be offered by reservation only and the number of people in each tour group will be limited.
