Jug Bay Ghost Paddle

October 17 @ 5:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Up for a “SPOOKY”, but fun evening in the water? Join volunteer Philippe Hensel and Patricia Delgado (Park Superintendent) for a one of a kind evening paddle along the Patuxent River. During our paddle, we will look for beaver, otter, muskrat, birds, and other wildlife along the shoreline. We will make one stop by the water’s edge where Philippe will share local legends and ghost stories around a campfire. Enjoying hot cider, light dinner, smores, and popcorn. It will be an evening to remember! The Patuxent River is a relatively slow-moving river, but paddlers must be able to propel the kayak through the water. Participants must be able to:

1. Independently participate in all activities while maintaining an appropriate and safe body position.

2. Manage all personal care and personal mobility independently.

3. Effectively communicate with leaders and other participants. For your safety you are required to have plenty of water (at least 32 oz per person), sunscreen, sun hat, sunglasses, and wear closed toe shoes that can get wet & muddy. If you lack any of these items, we may deny you participation!

Please arrive 15 minutes before the start time. Head lamps will be provided, but feel free to bring your own. A hike will be substituted if weather conditions do not allow for a paddle trip.

Ages: 18 and older. Fee: $45 per person. No refunds after 10.10.26.

Proceeds beyond event expenses go to the Friends of Jug Bay to support public education, research, and stewardship at Jug Bay. Registration required at www.jugbay.org Event Calendar and click on the event. For questions, call 410-222-8006 or email jugbay@aacounty.org
