Maryland State House 250th Celebration

Explore the Maryland State House with a scavenger hunt that is fun for the young and young-at-heart. See a Fourth of July display of Maryland’s documents relating to the nation’s founding. Reflect on what independence meant for Frederick Douglass and African Americans in the Old House of Delegates Chamber. Don’t miss the recently reopened Old Treasury Building with brand new exhibits! Learn about the people who managed early Maryland’s finances and see an iron chest that kept the colony’s money safe. Built in 1735-37, the Old Treasury is the oldest public building in Maryland. Staff from the Maryland State Archives will be onsite with family friendly activities. Free admission. Noon to 4:00 pm.
